How Chip + Trace PRO works
Installing the Chip + Trace Pro unit

When you purchase Chip + Trace Pro you automatically get 1 RFID chip. For instructions on how to install the Chip click here

You will also receive the patented Chip + Trace Pro unit. This device comes as a complete unit which does not need an external power source and can work for up to 5 years. For security reasons, images of the Pro unit cannot be shown in order to protect its identity from potential thieves.

As with the RFID chip, you will need to find a discreet place upon your vessel to place the unit. It is roughly the same size as a mobile phone so it is small and compact enough to be placed out of sight. There is no need for an external power source as the unit has a long battery life, up to 5 years using patented power management, but has a low battery notification that will be sent to you.
Replacing the battery means returning the Unit to us, we will send out a Unit to you, so that your vessel is always protected. The Unit will be reprogrammed and the battery recharged.

There is a £60 (plus VAT) charge for this activity.

Setup and Configuration

To configure the Pro unit, simply consult the Chip + Trace Technical Support Team on 01489 611852 and they will take you through the set up process. How the unit is configured is up to you (the owner) to best suit your needs. The technical support team will also provide a URL, user name and password to gain access to your page on the Chip +Trace Pro Server.

The Chip + Trace Pro Server is an online base where all the details of your Pro Unit and its configurations are stored, as well as all the tracking information via Virtual Maps and Google Earth. Once you have logged onto the server, you can change your password to suit you. You can also upload an image of your vessel to the server, supply the unit location and other contact details.

All your customer information details will already be stored on your page on the server form when you purchased and set up the unit.

The unit / simcard data you see is used for the GPS and GSM tracking, where you can customise the satellite report intervals.

On the Chip + Trace Pro Server the Pro unit can be configured to stay within a configured 'safe area', so if the unit is detected outside the 'safe area' then an alarm will be sent to you.
These safe zones are customised by you and can also be turned on or off the unit from a laptop or mobile phone.

For Non-UK client's, you should send us a Prepaid 3G SIM card, from your Local GSM Service Provider, Roaming enabled, to allow us to install this in the Unit, prior to configuration and despatch.

This will reduce the Annual Airtime /PC Access Fee to by £34 P.A . plus VAT. Please call to discuss.

The unit has a family of solutions to fit your needs, including a GSM/RF only version

Tracking your equipment / vessel

When you purchase Chip + Trace Pro you automatically get 1 RFID chips. For instructions on how to find your boat and identify your boat using the RFID chip technology and the watchlist click here

If outdoors the unit will receive a GPS Satellite position, if hidden undercover, the unit uses the closest GSM phone mast for location.

GPS accuracy can be 30-150 metres and a safe zone can be set, which can be triggered should the Pro move outside of this area. GSM location can be as accurate as 200-1200 metres (Chip and Trace Pro can also use GSM location if no GPS fix is possible) and the RF technology is then used to pinpoint the exact location of the stolen equipment / vessel.

The vessel can be tracked by logging into the Chip + Trace Pro Server or you can request maps to be sent to your mobile phone by calling the 24/7 monitoring station or viewing them on a computer for greater resolution and detail. All the commands that are available on the Chip and Trace Pro Server can all be activated or disabled via a mobile phone.

Activation of Chip + Trace Pro
Chip + Trace Pro can activated in several ways:

Automatically if its motion sensor is triggered for a programmed duration
Automatically if it's connected to an alarm or switch interface (MRM)
Automatically if its location plate is released
Automatically if it moves outside a defined area

You will be contacted by the monitoring station and must answer a simple password to be updated with any alarm updates, along with maps that will be sent to you via mobile phone or computer. Simple 2D maps with accurate longitude and latitude will be sent to your mobile and a more detailed map can be viewed via a computer.
